Aftercare
and Follow-Up
The process of growth and change does not end after
the Intensive Treatment Program. Rather, it is best viewed as the beginning
of a new, life-giving process for healthy living.
Since many issues our clients address require ongoing
nurturance of healthy patterns of behavior, we offer a two-year aftercare
program:
- A Discharge Conference is conducted
at the completion of the Intensive Program. The client meets with his
or her Superior and the treatment team. Progress made and ongoing needs
are discussed. Specific recommendations are made at this meeting for
the client to implement.
- A Re-entry Conference is conducted
at the client's assignment site. A staff member from the Consultation
Center meets with the client and significant members of his or her life
to review what transpired in treatment and to talk about ongoing needs.
This conference also allows for questions to be raised and old conflicts
to be discussed with a facilitator present.
- Monthly Telephone
Contact with
the client is maintained until he or she returns for the first aftercare
workshop or beyond if requested. The purpose is to help facilitate the
transition back into ministry or new life venue and provide ongoing
support.
- Aftercare Workshops
are conducted every six months for former program participants. Held
in St. Louis, the three-day workshops enable the client to review his
or her progress, examine impediments to progress, and strengthen his
or her resolve to follow through in a healthy manner. As with all our
services, this workshop is done in collaboration with both leadership
and other professionals involved in the client's ongoing care.
- Group Therapy
is available for clients remaining in the St. Louis area who are in
need of additional support and feedback after completion of the Intensive
Treatment Program. See Related Services.
