The St. Louis Consultation Center opened in 1992.

Dr. Paul Midden, the Center's founder and Clinical Director, pioneered the use of intensive outpatient treatment services for clergy and vowed men and women religious.

Dedicated, highly-skilled lay and religious professionals envisioned a program which would offer:

  • an intensive therapeutic experience utilizing professional services of the highest caliber

  • a faith-filled environment which recognizes the importance of spirituality and its place in the treatment process

  • an affordable, cost-effective program which serves as a viable alternative to more expensive residential or hospital-based programs

These goals have met with considerable success. After a national review, Catholic Bishops in the U.S. accorded both the assessment and treatment components of this program the highest ratings.

Today, the St. Louis Consultation Center serves clients from across the USA and from other countries.

Most return to ministry as more fully functioning individuals who have developed a deeper spirituality, a better grasp of the underlying issues that troubled them, and a clearer sense of responsibility for their actions.
